The Bristish monarchy does not serve any useful purpose?

Given that most Democracies need a Head of state to represent the people, as a Socialist Philosopher who is anti the very idea of privelege being inherited, you will be surprised to learn that I actually support our Queen. Why? Well I am a realist and the only likely alternative is a politician and frankly I would rather have a genuine lady who has been raised in the tradition that she must show dignity and Honour at all times to represent me than any number of political flunkies with the morals of an alley cat and as much principal as a sewer rat. Just a personal view.
