Questions about texturizer?

I currently "tex-lax" my hair to get my curls looser. I don't fully relax my hair because I have very tight curls, and I just wanted them to be looser and more manageable. Would it be better to just use a texturizer on my hair? I know it's gentler. And also, if I do the texturizer on my new growth will it look similar to my "tex-laxed" my hair? I don't want two noticeably different hair textures. Last question. The texurizer I am considering (Soft & beautiful botanicals) has lithium hydroxide. I am familiar with calcium hydroxide which I have used in the past which leaves a calcium buildup. Is the Lithium hydroxide less damaging and drying to your hair? Thanks!
